Grant Application Successful

Earlier this year (2026) the Friends Committee made a successful grant funding bid to The Lancashire Environmental Fund for a small grant to fund our project named ‘Sign of Spring at Ashton Park’

The application criteria was quite specific, so we chose to apply for the funding to help us purchase a new Friends noticeboard and lots of spring flowering bulbs and wildflowers to plant on the park.

The noticeboard will be a great asset for us to advertise our future projects and other Friends activities to visitors of the park, and the flowers will bring early colour to brighten and enhance the park in spring. The flowers chosen include Snowdrops, Native Bluebells and Winter Aconites as well as a mix of early wildflowers, these will also bring an essential early source of food for the bees and pollinators.
